LUNA DGD-1000 is a first-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD) source that can generate an accurate amount of differential group delay (DGD), up to 400 ps, and has no second-order PMD. Characteristics
It can precisely and reproducibly generate differential group delay or first-order PMD values for high and low values. Within the performance frequency band, DGD and polarization-dependent loss (PDL) change very stably over time and with wavelength. The instrument has different versions to meet the requirements of different wavelengths and DGD ranges. Its DGD resolution can reach 0.2 ps, and the change rate is as high as 64 ps/s. The insertion loss changes very little within the DGD range, with a typical value of 0.1 dB and a maximum PDL of 0.3 dB, with a typical value of 0.1 dB.
The DGD range can be selected from 0-200 ps and 0-400 ps, and the wavelength range supports single band (C band, L band or O band) or dual band (CL band). The return loss is greater than 50 dB.
It is mainly used for polarization performance testing in 400G/800G coherent systems, generating a wide range of precise DGD values for PMD tolerance testing of coherent detection systems, and conducting system PMD tolerance testing and first-order PMD performance simulation.
