The LUNA POS polarization stabilizer is used to maintain the stability of the output polarization state (SOP) when the input polarization state fluctuates. Common models include POS-202, POS-203, and POS-002, etc. The LUNA POS polarization stabilizer can be used to eliminate polarization fluctuations in optical fiber systems, suppress noise coefficients in optical amplifiers, and reduce the influence of polarization-dependent loss (PDL), and is widely used in coherent communication and optical sensor systems. POS-202: Through an optical fiber squeezing polarization controller, an online polarization monitor, and a proprietary algorithm, the input polarization discontinuity can be compensated within 5ms. It can track the continuous input polarization state rotation at a speed of up to 32π/s, stabilizing the output polarization state to a linear one and aligning it with the slow axis of the output polarization-preserving optical fiber. The working wavelength is 1550nm, 1310nm, or 1060nm ± 50nm.
POS-203: By dynamically changing the polarization state using algorithms, the provided feedback signal is minimized or maximized to maintain the output polarization state stability. It also has a fast recovery time of 5ms and a tracking speed of 32π/s, with the same wavelength range as POS-202. It can find and maintain any target polarization state based on either optical or electrical feedback signals.
POS-002: There are two versions: POS-002-I (internal feedback) and POS-002-E (external feedback). The former consists of an optical fiber squeezing polarization controller and an online polarization monitor, while the latter replaces the internal polarization monitor with a user-selected external analog electrical feedback signal. It can automatically adjust the polarization state at the fastest speed of 0.9ms to counteract input polarization state changes, and the output optical fiber is usually a polarization-preserving optical fiber (POS-002-I) or a single-mode optical fiber (POS-002-E)
