The Sumix OCTOPUS is a handheld robotic interferometer designed to perform maintenance checks on multi-terminal fiber optic connectors (MIL-DTL-38999 and similar products) installed inside aircraft or ships.
OCTOPUS uses a multi-axis motion system to scan 3D surfaces and automatically measure the geometric parameters at each end of the fiber optic connector.
Fixed connectors can now be checked within distribution frames, server set-top boxes, and other fiber optic network units without having to be disassembled for inspection.
