Product Description:
The Agilent Gas Chromatograph 5890 is a chemical analysis instrument used to separate chemicals from complex samples. The instrument uses a narrow flow-through tube called a column through which the different chemical components of the sample pass in an air stream (carrier gas, mobile phase); Components move at different rates, depending on their various chemical and physical properties and their interactions with specific column fillers, called stationary phases. As chemicals flow out of the end of the tower, they are electronically detected and identified. The function of the stationary phase in the column is to separate the different components so that each component leaves the column at a different time (retention time). Other parameters that can be used to change the retention order or time are carrier gas flow rate and temperature.
