The wireless communication system (WCS) is built on the 802.1x Wi-Fi network. The controller-based network management enables seamless switching of smartphones between access points. Rohde & Schwarz smartphones have a mobile voice terminal application, which provides the same functionality as a fixed voice terminal. The WCS smartphone is equipped with the Rohde & Schwarz NAVICS application, providing the same all-round communication as a fixed voice terminal. The R&S NAVICS user and role concept is part of the NAVICS operation concept, which allows login using a username and selected roles. Role-based communication no longer requires information about the user's location on the ship. NAVICS will automatically route any call to the appropriate terminal device.
