The Tektronix 82A04 Phase reference module extends the capabilities of the DSA8300*1 digital serial analyzer sampling oscilloscope host by providing the host with very low jitter/drift sampling position information. This sampling position information is based on the clock phase provided by the user to the Tektronix 82A04 input. The benefits of using sample position information based on clock signals are twofold: very low jitter and no possibility of triggering acquisition. Typical applications are the acquisition and analysis of ultra-high-speed optical and electrical signals in high-speed communication devices and systems and similar fields. Tektronix 82A04, together with DSA8300, implements the phase reference time base function in a novel way, allowing users to freely choose the time base and acquisition mode without any influence; It can accommodate any phase reference frequency within the operating range, and even advanced features such as FrameScan are still available. Each acquisition tank of the DSA8300 uses a separate DSP architecture, enabling the acquisition rate to reach more than 40 kS/s*2 in phase reference mode.
