The 8504B precision reflectometer provides the most advanced measurement of light wave reflection. Individual reflections are measured and displayed as a function of distance or position. A return loss measurement of more than 80 dB can be achieved even if large reflections are present in the measurement path. Two reflections may be less than 25 µm apart, the equivalent distance in air, and still be distinguishable separately. The model 8504B precision reflectometer is used to measure the return loss of various connected components in a single-mode fiber.
