The 83485B optical/electrical plug-in features an optical channel with a non-amplified 980 nm-1625 nm single mode (SM), 30GHz bandwidth, sensitivity: -8 dBm and an electrical channel with 18GHz and 40GHz bandwidth, 2.4 mm connector. The device is a plug-in module of 83480A digital communication analyzer.
The Agilent 83485B electrical interface optical plug-in has two measurement channels, one is an optical channel and the other is an electrical interface. Both channels have optional bandwidth Settings that choose between the lowest oscilloscope noise and the highest bandwidth, over 30 GHz, for higher fidelity in high-speed signal measurement.
The integrated optical channel eliminates the distortion caused by cables and connectors associated with the use of an external receiver, thus accurately characterizing the optical waveform. The optical channels were calibrated at 1310nm and 1550 nm to provide a built-in power meter and accurate display of the received optical waveform in microwatts. Electrical channels can be used to perform measurements on branch signals, transmitter modulated signals, to evaluate receiver performance in transceiver testing, to perform measurements using external optical receivers, or for general-purpose measurements.
