Product Description:
The N4377A Light Wave detector is a self-contained photoconverter powered by a USB interface, with a built-in optical power meter. Using the amplitude and phase response calibration data stored on this converter, vector network analyzers (e.g. PNA, PNA-X) can eliminate their influence on optical transmitter or modulator measurements and achieve accurate S21 parameter measurements in the photon domain. This converter has low inherent noise and high bandwidth, which is very useful for electronic spectrum analyzers to perform laser line width and modulation spectrum measurements.
The calibrated built-in optical power meter provides average power measurement and can measure optical insertion loss. The bar graph displayed on the converter not only indicates the detected fiber bending or breaking, poor connection, or signal loss, but also helps to ensure that the light waves do not exceed the linear optical power range of the detector.
