Product Overview:
The 8703B Optical Wave Element Analyzer is a unique general-purpose instrument for testing components of optoelectronic communication systems. It is designed for the high volume requirements of 10 Gb/s component manufacturing testing.
Test 10 Gb/s optics
The 8703B is a manufacturing test solution for a wide range of optical and electro-optical components, assemblies and devices, such as lasers and leds, photodiodes, optical cables, connectors and transmitter/receiver pairs. Electrical microwave components such as amplifiers, cables, connectors, attenuators and waveguides can also be measured.
The slope response performance of the source and receiver can be tested on the light source and receiver, including parameters such as modulation bandwidth. For both sources and receivers, electrical reflection performance can also be tested. For optical devices, the 8703B provides optical transfer function testing, including insertion loss and group delay. With the external Agilent 11890A directional coupler, light reflection performance can be tested on all types of components and devices. Microwave devices can also be tested for electrical transfer function and electrical reflection response.
Calibration measurement
One of the main advantages of the 8703B is its ability to perform calibration measurements on optical components. The 8703B eliminates systematic errors inherent in the device's measurement data through temperature compensated optics and error correction algorithms in the light wave platform. The ability to make calibrated, repeatable measurements ensures the accuracy, reliability and confidence of the components under test. The 8703B is a versatile instrument that can measure a wide range of parameters. It is a flexible optical, electro-optic and electrical component measurement assurance platform.
