The SR550 voltage preamplifier is designed to work with any SRS phase-locked amplifier. The preamplifier provides gain close to the experimental detector, and then the signal-to-noise ratio is permanently reduced due to cable capacitance and pickup. The preamplifier minimizes noise and pickup in the connection line and reduces measurement time in noise-limited experiments.
