Product Overview:
The Model 6430 Afiafe-class Remote SourceMeter combines the voltage and current source and measurement capabilities of Keithley's popular SourceMeter and Source Measuring Unit (SMU) instruments with superior sensitivity, noise and input resistance specifications to electrometers. The Model 6430 remote preamplifier achieves a unique combination of extensive functionality and superior measurement integrity, providing a very sensitive bi-directional amplifier with a sensitive feedback element for measuring or providing the current of the device under test. The high level signal output from the remote preamplifier is sent to the control host via a 2 meter long cable. This allows the user to connect directly or very briefly to the signal, thereby minimizing the impact of cable noise.
The Model 6430 makes voltage, current and resistance measurements at speeds unmatched by electrometers. It can read up to 2000 source/measurement readings per second into internal memory. In the 100nA range, the current measurement time is as short as 5ms, and in the higher range it is reduced to only a few hundred microseconds.
Notable features of the Model 6430 include its excellent low current sensitivity and remote preamplifier, making this sensitivity very useful by eliminating long input cables. The remote preamplifier is an integral part of the Type 6430 feedback measurement system and cannot operate independently of the measuring host, although it can be separated from the host by a connection cable up to two meters long that transmits a high level signal.
