The 8341A synthetic scan generator provides excellent resolution of 1 to 4 Hz in the frequency range from 10 MHz to 20.0 GHz. The output is produced by an indirect synthesis technique that produces low single sideband phase noise. This makes the 8341A an excellent signal source for use with microwave network analyzers such as 8510B. The indirect synthesis technique also enables the 8341A to have very fast continuous wave switching times, typically better than 35 ms. Depending on the absolute frequency and step size, the fast phase-lock feature can also be enabled, enabling switching times between 11 and 22 milliseconds.
