The R&S ESW26 from Rohde & Schwarz is an EMI test receiver operating from 1 Hz to 26.5 GHz. The instrument is designed to provide fast and reliable certified measurements while maintaining excellent RF characteristics, high dynamic range and measurement accuracy. It meets the most stringent requirements of CISPR, EN, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, ANSI, ETS, VCCI and FCC safety and EMC standards. The EMI test receiver integrates 21 preselected filters (high pass and notch), a preamplifier stage, and a pulse current limiter. In addition to performing EMI analysis during development, it can also be used as a signal and spectrum analyzer and perform standards-compliant EMI measurements in spectrum analyzer mode.
In addition to the traditional step scan mode, the R&S ESW26 uses FFT-based time domain scanning (TDS) with virtual step sizes of one-quarter of the resolution bandwidth and FFT window overlap of more than 90%. This results in the high frequency resolution and ultra-fast measurements required by CISPR 16-1-1. It utilizes an optimal pre-selected filter to suppress strong out-of-band signals for high sensitivity measurements within the passband. It also features a preamplifier to further increase sensitivity, combined with a switchable pulse limiter to protect the second anti-pulse RF input from high energy signals.
