Product Description
The Agilent E8491B is an embedded zero-slot controller for VXI test systems. Essentially, it is a C-sized single-slot message-based VXI module. Its core function is to establish a high-speed connection bridge between the PC and the VXI chassis via the IEEE-1394 bus. This module is specifically designed to fit the E84XX series chassis and is positioned as a low-cost and efficient test system connection solution, particularly suitable for data acquisition scenarios that require the transmission of large data blocks. Its logical address is fixed at 0, and it is inherently the resource manager of the VXI chassis. It is conventionally installed in slot 0 of the chassis and is responsible for coordinating the communication and resource allocation of various devices within the system.
Core feature
High-speed transmission and strong anti-interference: The data block transmission speed can reach 14MB/s. With the selection of additional components, the rate can be further increased to 400Mbit/s. During transmission, a 200mV small signal is transmitted differentially on the twisted pair wire, featuring controllable impedance characteristics, which can effectively resist external interference and ensure the stability of data transmission.
Support for hot swapping and easy configuration: It has the ability to automatically identify IEEE - 1394 devices, allowing for the addition or replacement of new devices without shutting down the PC power supply. This is the hot swapping function, which significantly reduces the operational complexity during system configuration and maintenance, and does not affect the normal operation of the test system.
Flexible system expansion: A single PC can connect and control multiple VXI chassis. This multi-chassis support feature enables users to easily build large-scale comprehensive test systems, adapting to different scale test requirements, and enhancing the overall flexibility and scalability of the system.
