The Keysight N5980A 3.125 Gb/s production serial BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester) can be used to test the manufacturing process of transceiver modules. Its price is only one-third of the current N4906B BERT. It also has independent electrical and optical interfaces (SFP plug-in), providing double the maximum throughput rate. Besides its price advantage, it has reduced the testing cost by six times.
In addition, the size of the N5980A has been reduced by 6 times, saving valuable space and further reducing the testing cost. Therefore, especially for low-cost and high-throughput testing applications (such as the manufacturing of gigabit transceiver modules), it has become the most attractive testing solution.

Standard measurement within the rate range from 155 Mb/s to 3.125 Gb/s.
• Generate pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) polynomials and K28.5 code patterns at the level of low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) or emitter-coupled circuit (ECL).
• Flexibly connect to the tested device through 3.5 mm differential coaxial connectors and/or standard optical SFP module inserts.
• Generate optical interface error (single occurrence or according to the optional bit error rate).
• Analyze the bit error rate of the gate selection, which can display the absolute number of errors and the selection gate selection time.
• Significantly simplify the measurement of the transceiver module by connecting to an external Windows® XP computer via a USB 2.0 interface, with a single-page graphical user interface, for basic tests.
• Comprehensive graphical programmability, combined with related software programs, makes the automated production test a simple task.
