Fast and cost-effective wavelength measurement
Bristol Instruments' 338 Series optical wavemeter combines speed and economy to meet the most important requirements of optical transceiver manufacturers.
The Model 338 has a high measurement rate of 25 Hz, which reduces test time and increases production throughput. Moreover, its affordable price, along with a 5-year warranty, provides the lowest cost of ownership compared to similar systems.
Accuracy is guaranteed through continuous calibration
The 338 optical wavemeter uses proven Michelson interferometer-based technology with fast Fourier transform analysis to accurately measure the wavelength of continuous wave and modulated signals.
Two versions are available. Type 338A is the most accurate, with an accuracy of ± 0.3 pm. For less stringent test requirements, the 338B system is a less expensive alternative with a wavelength accuracy of ± 1.0 pm.
Continuous calibration using the built-in wavelength standard preserves the long-term performance of the 338 optical wavemeter. In addition, each 338 system is rigorously tested using a laser source that can be traced back to NIST standards.
Designed for convenience and durability
338 optical wavemeter is very simple to make.
The optical signal enters the Type 338 through the FC (UPC or APC) fiber optic connector on the front panel. The system's high sensitivity results in input power requirements as low as -30 dBm (1 μW). Automatic attenuation instantly adjusts the signal for optimal performance.
A convenient touch-screen display on the front panel of the instrument controls the 338 system and reports measured wavelengths and power. Measurement data can also be sent using the SCPI command library via a standard USB or Ethernet interface or optionally a GPIB interface
