The 81606A tunable laser source is a cost-effective module for the 8164B optical wave measurement system. It achieves high accuracy and improves test efficiency by offering faster wavelength scanning tests and lower ownership costs. It can complete the automatic adjustment of wavelength-selective devices more quickly by providing sub-picometer-level repeatability and excellent accuracy, as well as a bidirectional scanning mode with a speed of up to 200 nm/s. The 81606A tunable laser source is supported by the N7700A optical communication application software suite. When used in combination with power meters and polarization instruments, it can measure spectral characteristics such as insertion loss, polarization-dependent loss, and dispersion. It offers outstanding scanning wavelength accuracy and dynamic range. Compared with the previous-generation 81600B laser source, which has maintained a leading position for over a decade, the 81606A tunable laser source has significantly enhanced functionality, helping optical component developers, designers, and manufacturers accelerate test execution and improve test margins.
