Product Description:
The SR830 phase-locked amplifier delivers high performance at a reasonable cost. The instrument displays both the amplitude and phase of the signal and uses digital signal processing (DSP) to replace the demodulator, output filter and amplifier in a traditional phase lock. The SR830 phase-locked amplifier has a differential input with an input noise of 6 nV/√Hz. The input impedance is 10 MΩ and the minimum full scale input voltage sensitivity is 2 nV. The input can also be configured for current measurement, with optional current gains of 106 and 108V/A. A line filter (50 Hz or 60 Hz) and a 2 x line filter (100 Hz or 120 Hz) are provided to eliminate line-related interference. However, unlike traditional phase-locked amplifiers, the input does not require a tracking bandpass filter. Traditional lock photos use this filter to increase dynamic reserve. Unfortunately, bandpass filters also introduce noise, amplitude and phase errors, and drift. The DSP-based designs of these phase lockers have such an inherently large dynamic reserve that there is no need to track a bandpass filter.
